A Zatanna-based film has been long-desired by many fans as the 37-year-old’s big screen comeback. A new update, however, indicates that the intended DC project is unlikely to proceed.
Why Alexandra Daddario’s Fans Aren’t Happy With the Latest DCU Zatanna Update.
In 2021, it was widely reported that Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell had been roped in by DC Studios to write the movie Zatanna. A powerful half Homo Magi and the daughter of magician Giovanni “John” Zatara, Zatanna is one of the most enigmatic characters in DC Comics due to her ability to manipulate magic.
The figure has collaborated with the Justice League and has been romantically associated with DC Comics’ John Constantine. The superheroine that starred in the CW television series Smallville was never seen by fans of the DC Extended Universe. For three seasons, Serinda Swan, star of Inhumans, portrayed the character.
For the planned DC project, Alexandra Daddario has long been the fan choice. The Baywatch actor has even shown up in a number of mystical character-related fan art pieces.
Nevertheless, Fennell disclosed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that she was able to pen a Zatanna-centered script for Warner Bros. and Bad Robot, though the project was stalled for a long time. “No, no, it’s not going to happen. But I really enjoyed it,” she remarked.
It’s uncertain if the aforementioned Zatanna idea will be brought back for James Gunn’s DCU reinvention. It isn’t, however, included in DCU’s Chapter 1 Gods and Monsters.
Alexandra Daddario Is Involved in Another DC Comics Based Project.
As things stand, Daddario fans will have to wait indefinitely to see her on-screen magic as Zatanna, but they will be able to hear her voice in the superhero genre next year.
In the animated series Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One, the star of True Detective is providing Lois Lane’s voice. Next month will see the release of the eleventh installment in the Tomorrowverse series. The action adventure, written by Jeff Wamester, centers on the Anti-Monitor, who is let free in the DC Multiverse and starts destroying the various Earths.
In addition to Daddario, other actors lending their voices to the tale—which is the first of a trilogy—include Matt Bomer and Jensen Ackles.
