Jack O’Connell and Delroy Lindo have already signed on to the Warner Bros. film.
Best recognized for her roles in HBO’s Lovecraft Country and Marvel Studios’ Loki, Wunmi Mosaku has teamed up with Michael B. Jordan for the Warner Bros. supernatural horror film being directed by Ryan Coogler.
The highly anticipated project, which was the focus of a public bidding competition in January, will be in front of cameras in New Orleans later this month and is already generating a lot of attention. Deals were closed last week by Delroy Lindo and Jack O’Connell.
There is not much information available regarding the project, and what is known has not yet been verified by Coogler or the studio. The movie, according to insiders, is set in the South during the Jim Crow era and may incorporate both vampires and magical Southern customs. Jordan might be acting like two different people.
According to insiders, Mosaku might play a female lead in the film and be Jordan’s character’s wife.
In addition to producing through his production business Proximity Media, Coogler created the script. Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler are also producing.
The Hollywood Reporter originally broke the story of the project in January. It was the focus of a competitive bidding war in the winter, and Warners emerged victorious because of a special arrangement that will see the filmmaker retain some rights to the film for many years.
A release date of March 7, 2025 has been determined by the studio.
Born in Nigeria and raised in the United Kingdom, Mosaku made her breakthrough in the United States with her role in the critically praised HBO series Lovercraft Country, which explored racism in the 1950s through a horror-thriller. The actress was nominated for a Critics Choice Award in the best supporting actress in a drama series category for her portrayal of Ruby Baptiste.
The actress co-starred with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson in both of the Time Variance Authority’s seasons of Loki, where she played the pivotal role of Hunter B-15. The British mystery series Passenger was the latest project in which the BAFTA-winning actress starred.
Gersh, Principal Entertainment, Scott Marshall Partners (UK Agents), and Johnson Shapiro represent Mosaku.
