The romance, a Prime Video exclusive, is based on Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel. It launches on May 2. In their last film, Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine have a brief romantic relationship.
The first trailer for The Idea of You, an adaptation of the same-titled 2017 book by author Robinne Lee, premiered on Prime Video on Wednesday.
According to the synopsis, “When Solène (Hathaway, 41) must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes Campbell (Galitzine, 29) and there is an instant, undeniable spark.”
“As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.”
Fans who compare Galitzine’s character, Hayes, to Harry Styles during his One Direction days have shown a great deal of interest in both the book and its film version.
The author of The Idea of You However, in recent years, Lee has refuted the notion that the character is a precise replica of Styles.
She stated to Vogue in 2020, “This was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles.” “It was meant to be a narrative about a woman who was getting close to 40, reclaiming her sexuality, and discovering who she was—just at the moment when society starts to write women off as attractive, viable, and whole.”
Michael Showalter and Jennifer Westfeldt co-wrote Lee’s novel, The Idea of You. The film is being directed by Showalter, who is best known for The Big Sick from 2017 and The Eyes of Tammy Faye from 2021.
In addition to Hathaway and Galitzine, Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Viktor White, Raymond Cham, Jaiden Anthony, and Dakota Adan also feature in the film.
