Though it has primarily been fan fiction, there has been conjecture for months that Henry Cavill will appear in Deadpool 3, also known as Deadpool & Wolverine. But as of right now, I can confirm that Henry Cavill will be in Deadpool 3. I am aware of who he is playing, moreover.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Henry Cavill plays a multiverse-based version of Wolverine. This will be Cavill’s first appearance in the Marvel universe, and when he shows up, his version will be sporting a long brown coat.
The same source that previously revealed Linda Cardellini would be voicing Lylla the Otter in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is the source of this information. James Gunn, the director of Guardians, then verified that report.
Note that I am not allowed to report anything from unreliable sources under GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT’s editorial policies. I’m only able to report on Henry Cavill’s appearance in Deadpool 3 since this source has already provided us with accurate and substantiated information on a story linked to this one.
Many had speculated that Cavill might play Captain Britain, a role that he had long been pushing for: the character is beloved by fans. Although it isn’t the case in Deadpool & Wolverine, it is still possible in the future.
The fact that Cavill plays Wolverine doesn’t preclude him from appearing in the Marvel universe as another character, as the story of Deadpool & Wolverine is full of bizarre multiverse manipulations. To the best of my knowledge based on my sources, Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is, at this time, a one-off.
Therefore, don’t expect Cavill to portray the role outside of this particular film. Furthermore, it’s still feasible for the former Superman to become a more regular member of the Marvel cast as a different character.
