Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was previously labeled “unrecognizable” in filtered photos, has expressed her criticism of aging in the entertainment industry.

In a recent podcast episode, the actress stated, “I think it’s dangerous to say to women, ‘You can’t look like you’re not 22 to me anymore because I don’t know how to take that.”

In the public eye, Jennifer Love Hewitt is being honest about growing older.

During her appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside of You earlier this month, the 44-year-old 9-1-1 star refuted rumors that she looks “unrecognizable” following her introduction of a dark bob to her Instagram fans this fall.

Hewitt said to host Michael Rosenbaum, “It’s really hard to be older in Hollywood.” “You can’t do anything right, which makes it really hard.”

The actress went on to discuss the backlash and attention that followed her post-hair appointment selfie.

“I was getting my hair done and I had not a stitch of makeup on so I threw on a filter,” she said. “And it was just a filter that at the time, looked nice in the light at the salon.”

“I really gave it no thought,” she added.

Hewitt said that after she posted the photo, “a bunch of people were like, ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable.’”

“And then another place was like, ‘She’s unrecognizable and so she’s gone to filters because she doesn’t want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s,’” she recalled. “And I was like, ‘This is crazy right?’”

Hewitt claimed that she uploaded more pictures to mock the critics, this time using “over-the-top, crazy” filters, and that she received even more abuse in response.

“I tried to make fun of it by saying, ‘All natural, no filter,’ but they caught on and said, ‘Well, now she’s just defending herself,'” the woman recalled. “And I thought, ‘I can’t do this right,'”

Rosenbaum questioned the actress on why she gives so much attention to those who “have nothing better to do than to put you down.” To which she said, “It is a lie to pretend that we don’t,”

The actress from Criminal Minds said to the host, “I will say the majority of people have been very kind to me,” in acknowledgment of the favorable attention she gets.

They have matured alongside me. They now appear like me,” she said. “We may be going through menopause and developing wrinkles, but who knows what else is in store for us.”

Hewitt, however, stated that because of her daughter Autumn, she feels compelled to draw attention to those who make disparaging remarks about her beauty. (She and husband Brian Hallisay have two kids, Aidan, 2, and Atticus, 8, together named Autumn.)

The You Know What You Did The singer from last summer claimed that “being a mother of a girl” is the sole reason “those people bother me.”

Hewitt declared, “What we put on people is dangerous.” “I believe that telling women, ‘You can’t look like you’re not 22 to me anymore because I don’t know how to take that,’ is dangerous.”

“Because this is how I look, and I’m 44,” she continued.

Hewitt also gave some reflections on her early years, stating, “I didn’t feel self-confident at 23, 24, 25,.”

“I sensed being observed. I felt like I had to constantly be everything to everyone,” she said. “Even before I knew what being sexy meant, I was called sexy.” I mean, I was 17 years old when I appeared on the cover of Maxim, and I had no idea why.”

Hewitt went on, “That girl was trying her best, but she was so confused and insecure.”
