James McCaffrey, 65, died as an actor in Rescue Me and Max Payne’s voice.

Actor James McCaffrey, who voiced the title character in the Max Payne computer games and played 9/11 victim and fireman Jimmy Keefe on Rescue Me, passed away on Sunday at his Larchmont, New York, home. 65 was his age.

After a fight with myeloma, McCaffrey passed away. His spouse, the actress Rochelle Boström, verified the information to The Hollywood Reporter.

McCaffrey debuted as skilled driver Michael Payton/Joe Astor in 1994’s Viper, in addition to appearing in fifty-five episodes of the FX dramedy Rescue Me. In the action series, he had appearances in Seasons 1 and 4. In the same period, he starred in seven episodes of the Fox crime series New York Undercover as Captain Arthur O’Byrne, which ran from 1994 to 1997.

He provided the voice of the vengeful former NYPD officer turned DEA agent whose wife and children were killed by drug addicts in the Max Payne video games. These episodes came out in the years 2002, 2008, 2003, and 2001.
