Introducing Gemini: Google’s Advanced AI App for Android Phones

Do you recall Bard, Google’s equivalent of ChatGPT? As of right moment, its official name is Gemini. Furthermore, the sophisticated AI elements that were formerly referred to as Duet AI have been included into the Gemini brand. In case you haven’t been keeping up with all the AI advancements, the name comes from the same-named multi-modal large language model.

Along with the rebranding, Google has released an Android standalone app called Gemini. Additionally, iPhone users may now get the Gemini experience through the Google app on iOS. But there’s still more.

Google has released yet another noteworthy statement, this time with a price warning. Depending on the size of the training dataset and the built-in capabilities, Gemini is available in three sizes: Nano, Pro, and Ultra.

Bard launches a new mobile app and becomes Gemini | Ultra 1.0.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series of phones and the Google Pixel 8 Pro both come pre-installed with the Gemini Nano variant. Google is now allowing users to view the original Ultra model. It will launch with a new Google One AI Premium membership that costs $19.99 per month under the moniker Gemini Advanced.

Although all of this chatter about Gemini may seem like just another AI press stunt driven by hype, it’s actually a very significant step. It won’t be shocking at all to see Google Assistant fade away when Gemini replaces it on your phone, tablet, wristwatch, and other ecosystem products.

This is Google Assistant’s future.

According to Google, “it’s an important first step in building a true AI assistant, one that is helpful, conversational, and multimodal.” In short, Google Assistant was meant to be a part of this anticipated AI revolution, and for good reason.

Initially, Gemini may be accessed in the same manner as you would normally call upon Google Assistant on an Android device. You can use the bottom corner swipe motion, voice command, or long press the power button to bring it to life.Gemini is always available to you, no matter what app you are using.

Gemini’s knowledge of the content on the screen is another benefit of its arrival on the phone. Let’s say you captured a photo of your coffee mug being knocked over by a cat. Gemini may be summoned by just asking it to write a nice message about the mischievous cat to share in the family WhatsApp group. It will do so by waving its magical AI wand.

That approach hasn’t worked for Google Assistant. Similarly, Gemini will respond to queries pertaining to articles displayed on your screen and do all the functions expected of a multi-modal AI bot.

The best part is that Gemini can do most of the things that Google Assistant can do, all from within your phone. Putting in a dozen alarms and then waking up at the last minute? Verify. Speak to your eternally unreliable friend? Indeed. Taking control of the smart appliances in your home? That’s what Gemini will do too.

The Gemini app will launch “in the coming weeks” and can be found within the Google app for iOS. Gemini’s mobile deployment is currently restricted to the United States and is currently only available in English, although additional language support and increased market availability are on the horizon.
