Milano had vowed to sue the show over what Combs revealed to be a “hostile” work atmosphere.
The reason Holly Marie Combs believes her “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty left the show abruptly after its third season has been revealed. In a recent episode of Doherty’s podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” Combs talked about her encounter with show producer Jonathan Levin, claiming that he had to choose between Doherty and co-star Alyssa Milano in order to continue working on the popular WB series.
“You know, we’re essentially in a situation where it’s one or the other,” he remarked. We were informed by Alyssa that it was either me or Shannen, and that she had threatened to sue us for creating a hostile work environment. She did this by going to the therapist, mediator, or corporate mediator, whoever his title may be, and creating a case for herself by keeping track of every instance in which she felt uneasy on set, for whatever reason. In contrast, you and I declined to talk to him. Thus, Combs stated, “that’s where the deck was stacked.”
Prue Halliwell, played by Doherty, was finally killed off in the 2001 season 3 finale. Later on, Rose McGowan made her cast debut as Paige Matthews.
“I lived a year after that sort of replaying everything in my brain and really trying to find those moments,” Combs said, adding that she could not recall any “brawls” or “harsh words exchanged” between her, Milano, and Doherty on the set of the program. On set, I can’t recall ever treating her badly.
As you age, you come to terms with the fact that something happened. Forgiveness is not the same as acceptance and going on with your life, according to Combs. “You simply look at someone differently, take a lesson from them, and move on.”
