A Burnsville lady is being prosecuted for allegedly giving weapons to the man who, according to the police, shot and killed three emergency personnel in Burnsville last month.

The 35-year-old Ashley Anne Dyrdahl is charged with five counts of straw purchasing, five counts of lying to a federal prosecutor when acquiring a firearm, and one act of conspiracy.

Authorities from the local, state, and federal levels made the announcement on Thursday.

Two days prior, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS revealed that the mother of three children present in the house during the shooting incident claims she was summoned and gave evidence before a federal grand jury.
In addition, the proprietor of a gun store in Burnsville told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS late last month that a pistol part discovered at Shannon Gooden’s house was bought with straw and linked to his establishment.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office claims that Dyrdahl, who was romantically involved with Gooden, assisted him in obtaining firearms because Gooden was prohibited from possessing them legally because of his past convictions.

According to the prosecution, Gooden would text Dyrdahl the guns he wanted her to purchase. She would then place the purchases, complete the paperwork, and reply, “We just gotta make sure we’re smart about all this ya know?” before sending the orders.

Three semiautomatic AR-15-style gun lower receivers, one with a binary trigger and heavier load ammo for extra damage, were among the weapons she reportedly purchased and supplied to Gooden.

The attorney’s office claims that two of the AR-style weapons were involved in the shooting on February 18 that resulted in the deaths of firefighters/paramedic Adam Finseth, police officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand, and Sgt. Adam Medlicott. Investigators subsequently discovered a cache of weapons including hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Authorities claim he shot more than 100 rounds from the guns during the event.

Superintendent Drew Evans of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) emphasized the increase in attacks on law enforcement in the state, stating that since the beginning of 2023, 18 cops and one firefighter/paramedic had been shot. Among those first responders, four have passed away.

Evans stated, “Ashley Dyrdahl handed him the guns, and for this she must be held accountable. Ashley Dyrdahl didn’t shoot anybody, make no mistake about it.”

Speaking about the attacks on first responders, Burnsville’s police chief stated that something needs to change.

Speaking about the attacks on first responders, Burnsville’s police chief stated that something needs to change.

“It must cease, these flagrant acts of disdain and violence against law enforcement and public safety in general. According to Burnsville Police Chief Tanya Schwartz, “the women and men across the nation who uphold their oath and risk their lives to serve and protect, they deserve respect and they deserve support every day, every day, not just when a tragedy strikes, not just when it’s convenient, and not just when there’s a personal purpose there.”

Dyrdahl is reportedly handing herself in and will make her initial court appearance later this afternoon, according to Luger.
